Disney considering expanding MyMagic+ to other parks
Walt Disney Co. is considering rolling out its pioneering MyMagic+ program to other theme parks.
Chief operating officer Tom Staggs says the MyMagic mobile tech has been used by more than 11 million visitors and customer feedback has been very positive.
"The folks who are saying the MyMagic+ experience is excellent is the vast, vast majority of folks who are using it, and that, we know, is good for our business," Staggs said.
The MyMagic+ program, which cost a reputed $1 billion to develop, lets users unlock hotel room doors, make in-resort purchases and book ride times with a wristband embedded with a microchip.
"We will bring variations on MyMagic+ to our parks and other businesses around the world," Staggs said.
He also added that some similar functions could be integrated within a Disney Apple Watch app, although there are no immediate plans to do so at the moment.
