Disney Cruise Line gets approval for test cruises
The CDC has now given the green light for Disney Cruise Line to start test cruises ahead of final approval to resume sailing.
The sailings will depart from Port Canaveral from 29 June aboard the Disney Dream, said port CEO, Captain, John Murray.
"We received word that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has approved our application to conduct a simulation cruise in advance of resuming normal operations. This is a critically important milestone for Disney Cruise Line," said Thomas Mazloum, President, Disney Signature Experiences.
Vaccination is not mandatory for simulated sailings under the CDC’s Framework for Conditional Sailing Order.
Cruise lines can skip the test sailings if they can guarantee nearly all guests are vaccinated but this is a more difficult requirement for Disney, due to its key customer demographic of young families.
