Walt Disney is already plotting to build a second theme park next door to the newly-opened £1 billion Disneyland in Hong Kong.

Disney chairman George Mitchell reportedly told Hong Kong executives that eventually “the addition of an entire new theme park adjacent to the current park will transform them site into a true multi-day destination resort.”

According to the Financial Times, the Hong Kong government and Disney – joint partners in the venture – have already set aside land to double the size of the park.

Mitchell’s statement also appear to underline Disney’s optimism about the Chinese market.
