Doggone it, US Air won’t take your pet
US Airways said it will no longer carry pets as cargo or fly unaccompanied minors on connecting flights.
The airline said it adopted new policies to conform with those of its new partner, America West.
The changes are to take effect 1 October of this year.
In the future, children ages 5 to 14 who are traveling as unaccompanied minors will be accepted by US Airways for travel only on nonstop flights.
In other new rulings, the airline says it will no longer sell supplemental oxygen on its flights. US says it is also working to implement new policies in that area.
Said US Airways Executive Vice President of Operations Al Crellin:
“We have made these policy changes as part of our strategy to simplify the new airline’s business while retaining service elements that are important to our customers. These changes are more in line with other low-cost competitors.”
