Double daily service from Perth
Emirates, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, yesterday announced that it plans to launch its second daily service from Perth to Dubai this year, initially starting with four additional services on 2nd March, which will be escalated to a daily in September.
The second daily flights will not only strengthen Emirates’ position in the Australian market but also enables same day travel to the United Kingdom for Western Australia residents.
Richard Vaughan, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Commercial Operations East Asia and Australasia said: “The additional services signal our commitment and confidence in the growth of the Australian, and particularly the Western Australian market, and reflect a strong and steady demand for Emirates passenger and cargo services.”
“These services are expected to bring greater access and facilitate traffic flows between Western Australia and key markets in Europe and the Middle East.”
“What’s more, passengers will now be able to depart Perth and arrive in London on the same day, leaving Perth at 06:30 and arriving in London at 18:15,” Mr Vaughan said.
The new services will provide valuable additional cargo capacity, supporting Emirates SkyCargo in its on-going efforts to develop existing business, as well as new export opportunities from Western Australia to some 80 destinations throughout the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the USA.
The additional capacity will help meet the current high demand for mining equipment to Africa and the increasing volumes of perishable products such as chilled meat, fruit and flowers to the Middle East and Europe.
Emirates launched flights from Perth in August 2002 with four flights per week, commencing daily flights in May 2003. The Perth-Dubai flight was the first ever non-stop connection between the Middle East and Australia.
At present, Emirates provides 42 weekly passenger services between Dubai and Australia, fourteen per week to Sydney and Melbourne, and seven per week to Brisbane and Perth. Emirates has also extended its presence in Australia with the recent opening of two new dedicated First and Business Class Lounges in Sydney and Perth, in addition to the Brisbane Lounge which opened in 2004.
In July 2005, Emirates entered into a multi-million dollar, three-year deal to become the naming rights sponsor of the Emirates Western Force, which is counting down the days to its debut game against the ACT Brumbies on 10th February at Subiaco Oval.
Committed to the growth of the arts in Australia, Emirates Airline is also the Principal Partner of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra as well as the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
New Flight Timings: Flight EK425 will depart Perth on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 06:30 to arrive in Dubai at 13:45. The return flight EK424, will depart Dubai at 09:25 on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday to arrive in Perth at 00:10 the following morning.
