Dover-Calais travel threatened as another P&O ferry detained
P&O Ferries looks highly unlikely to resume Dover-Calais sailings before the end of Easter
Another P&O ship was detained by regulators.
The Spirit of Britain ship is impounded in port by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency
The ship was seized by the agency over fit to sail concerns.
“The Spirit of Britain has been detained due to surveyors identifying a number of deficiencies which were grounds for detention,” a MCA spokesperson told ITV News.
“We have advised P&O to invite us back once they have addressed the issues. We do not know yet when this will be.”
The Spirit of Britain serves the busy over to Calais route, dealing cross-channel travellers another blow.
P&O’s Dover-Calais routes are suspended and the company had said no resumption was likely before Friday.
The Pride of Kent ship, which remains under detention, also operates the Dover to Calais route.
