Dubai drops alcohol tax to boost tourism
Dubai has ditched its 30% alcohol tax in an effort to boost tourism.
The move is an attempt to make the destination more tourist-friendly.
The Financial Times reported the move as an initial one-year trial.
Along with the alcohol tax abolition, Dubai said it will also scrap personal alcohol licences.
These were mandatory for residents who wanted to consume alcohol at home.
Dubai has gradually been relaxing drinking laws over the last few years.
