Earthquake hits holiday island of Crete
Crete was hit by a strong earthquake earlier today, but there are no reports of any injuries or damage.
The magnitude 5.2 tremor struck at 7.40 this morning local time.
Its epicentre was recorded around 20kms west of the capital Heraklion and the quake was felt across Crete and other islands in the south Aegean, according to local media.
The Greek island’s regional governor Stavros Arnaoutakis said there had been no reports of injuries or damage.
