The world’s most spectacular Tattoo celebrates its Diamond Jubilee year in August and will mark the event by staging one of the most spectacular pageants in its 60-year history.

Alan Smith from the Edinburgh Tattoo office said in Sydney this week that ticket prices for the event were keenly priced because it was always intended to make the Tattoo accessible to as wide an audience as possible

The emphasis this year is again on music, supported by daredevil motorcycle displays, Scottish highland dancing and gymnastic drills.

Overseas attractions include a military contingent from New Zealand, the Citadel Band from Charleston in South Carolina, the Swiss Highlanders and the South Australian Pipes & Drums.

The massed bands will be led by the Guards Division Bands of The Grenadier and Coldstream Guards.

This year’s show takes place nightly, Monday to Friday, at 9pm with two performances on a Saturday at 7.30pm and 10.30pm.

Tickets for the 2010 Tattoo (6-28 August), priced £16.00 to £53.00, may be obtained via the Internet at www.edinburgh-tattoo.co.uk/tickets.
