El Bulli’s Adria heading for World Gourmet Summit
SINGAPORE – The World Gourmet Summit in April will welcome Spain’s superstar chef, Ferran Adriá
Hailing from El Bulli in Roses, Spain, voted the world’s best restaurant by UK Restaurant magazine, three Michelin Star chef Adriá will be making his debut visit to Asia at the 2010 summit.
Adriá is famous for his ground breaking molecular gastronomy cooking style, which adopts the application of science to culinary practices.
He is best known for creating ‘culinary foam’, which consists of natural flavours mixed with a natural gelling agent.
“My impression of Singapore is that of a country which understands and appreciates great food. It has always been my dream to visit Asia and what better time than to be there during the World Gourmet Summit,” said the 47-year-old.
Adriá’s visit to Singapore comes at an interesting time in his career, with the Spanish government, through the Spain Tourism Board, reaching an agreement in which he will become a brand ambassador for Spain.
The chef will feature in Spain’s new international advertising campaign “I Need Spainâ€, as well as participating in international promotions with the Spain Tourism Board, of which the first will be his visit to Singapore for the World Gourmet Summit.

The documentary “A day at El Bulli†will be screened at the World Gourmet Summit on April 22, which will also provide an opportunity for audience interaction with Adriá.
On April 23, the chef will provide an insight into his latest techniques and the philosophy behind them.
A press conference will also provide a platform for Adriá to present a detailed overview of the future of El Bulli, which is closing down to become a training academy for talented young chefs.
