Eleven tourists killed in Tanzania
Eight tourists and three other people are reported to have been killed in a collision in Tanzania, with four more seriously injured.
According to the South African online news provider News24.com, the tourists were from New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland and Spain, with the three other dead people being locals.
The website reports that the accident took place as the tourists were being driven from Kenya into Tanzania, to visit some of the country’s national parks.
A speeding truck, laden with vegetables, is said to have caused the collision.
A police spokesman is quoted as saying: “It was a head-on collision. Eight people were killed on the spot and two others died in hospital. Another victim died overnight.”
