Emory Conference Center Hotel to Become First LEED Certified Conference Center in Atlanta
The Emory Conference Center Hotel is in the final phase of a major renovation and expansion that was started in March 2008. The multi-million dollar expansion is expected to be completed in May of this year and includes a new five-story structure to be certified LEED Silver (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) by the U.S. Green Building Council. The new building is connected to the existing hotel by a pedestrian bridge and includes 127 new guest rooms, 6,000 square feet of additional meeting space, a six-lane bowling alley with retro decor that includes a full bar and game room. A new parking garage has been added as part of the expanded facilities.
Upon completion, the added guest rooms and meeting space will result in Emory Conference Center Hotel offering a total of 325 guest rooms with six suites and 32,000 square feet of meeting space. The new 6,000 square-foot meeting space will consist of a ballroom, boardroom, and a technologically advanced seminar room. Several lushly landscaped outdoor patio areas are being added, including one with a fire pit.
Extensive renovations are being made to the indoor pool, health club, club room, dining room, and the kitchen in the existing building. The hotel is also working towards achieving LEED status for the existing building as well.

In addition, as part of the Emory University Campus, and because of our commitment to architecturally fitting into the beautiful wooded area that we occupy, it is only a natural progression to have a LEED certified expansion that offers a sustainable design solution and respects our environment," added Johnson.
