Ethiopian Airlines wins the 2007 Africa Business Award
Ethiopian Airlines has won the 2007 African Times-USA “Africa Business Award” for significant contributions to the development of air transport in Africa.
The accolade was presented to the airline’s Chief Executive, Mr Girma Wake, in California, USA, during the 15th Africa Achievement Awards and Africa Day Celebrations Gala Dinner.
The Africa Achievement Awards were established in 1991 to recognise organisations and individuals who have contributed towards portraying a positive image of Africa and helped improve the lives of Africans.
Earlier recipients of the Award include former presidents of South Africa, USA and Nigeria – Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton and Oulsegon Obassanjo respectively.
Ethiopian Airlines is committed to developing high quality air transport services within Africa, and between Africa and key international markets.
In recent weeks, the carrier has expanded its route network using new Boeing 737-700 aircraft to inaugurate flights from Addis Ababa to both Bahrain and Sana’a in Yemen.
And in 2008, the airline will become one of the first to receive the all-new Boeing 787 Dreamliner, opening a range of new possibilities for international links with Africa.
From Australia, passengers can connect with Ethiopian airlines in Bangkok and Hong Kong and the airline is represented in this market by World Aviation Systems.
