Etihad, Batik Air Malaysia begin codeshare partnership
Gulf carrier Etihad Airways and Batik Air Malaysia have enhanced cooperation with the launch of a codeshare partnership.
Etihad’s guests can now access eight domestic and international locations via Batik’s hub at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL).
The airline codeshare enables the combining of flights of either airline on a single through ticket.
Additionally, passenger luggage will be transferred to their final destination.
The airline codeshare now allows Etihad guests to travel to five new domestic codeshare destinations in Malaysia.
These are Johor Bahru, Langkawi, Penang, Kota Kinabalu and Tawau, along with international flights to Da Nang and Hanoi in Vietnam, and Perth in Australia.
Both inbound and outbound Malaysia passengers will have a wider choice of flights on the combined networks.
Batik customers can easily connect via Kuala Lumpur on twice-daily Etihad flights from Abu Dhabi.
Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad, said: “This collaboration significantly enhances our codeshare network, offering travellers seamless access to five key destinations in Malaysia.”
The new airline codeshare partnership is now live.
Batik is Etihad’s 38th codeshare partner.
