Europe puts on its public face
SYDNEY – Airlines, national tourist offices and tour operators are expected to join the European Travel Experts wholesaler group at a series of public travel shows later this year.
The shows will be held at the Mercure Sydney on Sunday, October 18, Mercure Melbourne on Sunday, October 25 and at the Sofitel Brisbane on Sunday November 8.
It will be the first time the ETE has held functions for the consumer. It has held very successful annual seminars for the trade throughout the country for the last two years.
Made up of seven wholesalers who specialise in travel to Europe, ETE will underwrite the cost and management of the shows and entry by the public will be free with a newspaper coupon.
ETE member Andrew Morgan from globalCARS said that potential exhibitors, apart from the seven ETE members, had been carefully selected with a view to minimum product overlap.
He said that a number of appropriate airlines, tour operators and NTO’s had been invited to participate with a maximum of 25 exhibitors involved.
Morgan added, “This is an opportunity for wholesalers and suppliers to work together with each independently using their own database to publicise the events to the public.â€
Members of ETE are Albatross Travel, Beyond Travel, French Travel Connection, globalCARS.com.au, International Rail, Nordic Travel and SIT Italian Tours.
