Eurostar cancels trains to Brussels
Eurostar has cancelled all train services to Brussels until 19.34 today, forcing thousands of passengers to cancel or postpone their trips.
The rail operator said all trains between London and Brussels had been cancelled except the 19.34 departure from St Pancras due to industrial action on the Belgian rail network.
A very limited coach service will operate between Lille and Brussels, but Eurostar said demand for seats would be high and the journey time will take approximately two hours longer.
The rail operator is advising passengers to postpone or cancel their trips where possible.
Customers can exchange their tickets free of charge within 60 days for a journey in the next 120 days.
Eurostar services to France are operating normally but passengers connecting in Paris may be delayed due to industrial action on the French national rail network and on the Paris Metro.
Passengers travelling to and from France who are unable to make their connection are able to exchange their tickets within the next 60 days for travel within the next 90 days.
In a separate development, German rail operator Deutsche Bahn held its first test of a high-speed train carrying passengers through the Channel Tunnel on Saturday as it prepares to challenge Eurostar’s monopoly of cross-Channel services.
Deutsche Bahn hopes to run services between the UK and Frankfurt and Cologne within the next three years.
