Families of lost cruise passengers start new organization
The families of people lost on cruise ships have formed an organization with members expected to testify before the US Congress in March, when hearings are expected.
The group is called International Cruise Victims.
βThe Connecticut family of George Smith, a 26-year-old honeymooner who vanished from a Royal Caribbean ship in the Mediterranean in July amid mysterious circumstances, has galvanized the movement,β said the Business Journal of Jacksonville.
The newspaper said six of the 13 recent disappearances were from ships owned by Carnival Corporation.
The group plans to keep a running tally of the number of times a passenger goes overboard from a cruise ship at a Web site itβs launching at www.internationalcruisevictims.org.
