Fancy seeing Australia in a different light?

Wednesday, 10 Dec, 2007 0

With many Aussie’s spending the children’s inheritance, travelling around Australia in a caravan or motor home or even by train, Lillian and Laurie O’Neil of Mandurah in WA told The Mole that they had done all that and seen as much as they could of Australia by those means, so they thought that cruising right around Australia from Fremantle to Fremantle would be a great way to see Australia from a different angle.

Lillian and Laure are avid cruisers, having been on the Gemini’s big sister SuperStar Virgo, the Pacific Princess and cruised in Canada and the S Pacific and when they saw the advertisements locally in the paper in Mandurah for the Gemini, they decided to give her a go and they had not been disappointed.

They told The Mole that what was really important to them was to take the strain out of travelling and they loved that with cruising in that they could unpack once and they did not have to repack every night, with the only strain being deciding what to have to eat or what activities or entertainment to go to if at all!

They also said that they liked meeting different people and as they were on board right round Australia,  arriving back in Fremantle on 26 December, they also met new people that came and went at each port, which they thought was great.

Lillian and Laurie said that they thought the Gemini was a fantastic ship and along with every other passenger The Mole spoke with, said that they thought the crew were absolute fantastic and naturally friendly – nothing was forced like on other ships, where Lillian said they thought staff were nice to passengers sometimes just to get tips!

They also said that they chose an inside cabin, not because it was cheaper, but because they knew they would never be in the cabin and also that it would be a waste of money, with having proved to be the case, as they really enjoyed sitting on deck, in the lounges or library.

Laurie also added that he was very impressed with how spotlessly clean and well maintained the Gemini is.

So, go Laurie and Lillian and enjoy the remainder of your circumnavigation around Australia on the SuperStar Gemini!
