Fancy your own tropical hideaway?
Is anyone out there interested in buying their very own tropical holiday island? Well, you can now! According to a report in today’s Daily Telegraph, China is putting up for sale hundreds of islands in Guangdong province, which borders Hong Kong. The newspaper states that Guangdong and its capital Guangzhou are “the heart of China’s booming economy”, even if the majority of the islands are uninhabited and “of no economic importance”. What is more, the Telegraph reports, most of them lack fresh water and transport, while they are “frequently” hit by typhoons and tropical storms. The islands are believed to be priced from GBP8,000 to GBP8 million.
