Farewell Shanker Dhar
Australia’s most respected and charismatic NTO head, Shanker Dhar has retired from his post as Regional Director Australasia, for the Government of India Tourism Office, following a highly successful career working for India Tourism, which included several postings to Australia and as Deputy Director General in India
On Tuesday 11th December a large gathering of industry nobility [pictured left to right: Michael Osborne, Mature Traveller; Glenn A. Baker, Travel Writer; Shanker and Mrs Dhar; and Ms Judy Chapman, Agent.] joined Shanker and his charming wife at Surjit’s Indian Restaurant, for an evening of fine cuisine, toasts and celebrations to his contributions to the travel industry, in both India and Australia.
Following several speakers, who lauded the achievements of this icon of professionalism, Shanker responded, telling all about his delight in being able to achieve the increases that Australian and New Zealand visitors to India have reached each year.
Shanker also told of his plans to spend as much time as possible in Australia as he and his family love living here.
