Fernandes chosen as one of Asia’s rising stars
SINGAPORE – AirAsia chief executive Tony Fernandes has been named one of Asia’s 10 rising leaders by the Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA).
SIIA, in collaboration with AXN Asia, described the leaders as influential movers and shakers who were selected for, among others, their contribution to the Asian community in the last 10 years.
“It is a humble experience but it feels nice to be recognised, not just me but for all the staff at AirAsia, and it is good for Malaysia,” he said when contacted in Singapore.
Fernandes said he believed AirAsia’s success in bringing the Asian countries closer through his budget carrier was one of the factors that contributed to him being selected.
