Festive cruise ship outbreak sickens more than 100
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed more than 100 people were sick during an outbreak on a Celebrity Cruises ship during the holidays.
It reported 95 Celebrity Eclipse guests ill along with nine crew members but the causative agent of the outbreak is still unknown.
The eight-day cruise from Fort Lauderdale ended on December 28.
The CDC said the main symptoms reported were vomiting and diarrhea.
During the outbreak it isolated ill passengers and crew and conducted enhanced disinfection and cleaning measures.
It is the 22nd gastrointestinal illness outbreak of 2025.
Most of these were confirmed as norovirus outbreaks.
