Fiji road shows draw strong response from regional agents
Underlining Fiji’s strength in regional Australia and ongoing interest in the destination, more than 140 travel agents last week attended three key ‘Fiji NOW‘ update seminars staged in Canberra, Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie.
CTM Resorts Managing Director Paul Cutler said the response was indicative of the strong appeal Fiji continues to enjoy in the face of ever-changing Australian Government travel advisories for the destination.
One of the organisers behind the Fiji Visitors Bureau/Air Pacific-sponsored events, Mr Cutler said the DFAT travel advisory, again relaxed as of 23 July, didn’t appear to be having any major effect on peoples’ travel plans.
In fact, he said, the destination’s booking arrivals from Australia were returning to normal levels.
“If anything, the destination’s appeal in regional Australia has been reinvigorated, which is in a large part due to the significant changes both Virgin Blue and Qantas Airways have made to their regional domestic flight schedules to offer seamless connections with their Fiji services.
Mr Cutler said while he was extremely pleased at the roll-up in all three locations, he was particularly gratified at the turn-out in Canberra where 68 of the 72 travel agencies located in the ACT and surrounding area were in attendance.
CTM Resorts, which represents Treasure Island Resort, Bounty Island Resort and the Capricorn Nadi Hotel, was one of 15 hotel, cruise company and tour operator representatives participating in the event.
