Passengers flying on South African Airways can now choose the person they want to sit next to on their flights.

A new online check-in feature, Social Seat Selector, allows customers to use their Facebook details to select a flying companion.

"Now there’s no excuse to be bored. Customers can spice it up by selecting anyone who also uses the feature and has shared their own details," said Tim Clyde-Smith, SAA’s country manager for Australasia,

Only available to those checking in online, customers will need to share some, or all, of their Facebook details with other passengers.

A seat map will allow customers to select available seats next to people with similar interests, or those going to the same events.

Social Check-In is available for flights within South Africa and all international flights, including SAA’s daily service from Perth.
