Firefly signs first GDS partnership with Sabre
Malaysia regional carrier Firefly has selected Sabre as its first GDS distribution partner.
The airline’s fare content will be available to more than 400,000 Sabre-connected travel professionals, which will allow the airline to reach its growth objectives, and to improve distribution metrics, said Philip See, CEO of Firefly.
Firefly operates from hubs in Penang and Subang in Malaysia, flying to domestic destinations, Southern Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia.
The distribution partnership will help strengthen its alignment with the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle cross border strategy and increase its reach into new markets.
The airline will soon resume flights to Singapore after a five month suspension following the resolution of an airspace spat between Malaysia and Singapore.
"Sabre is pleased to develop a strategic alliance with Firefly, who has selected us as their first GDS. By connecting the airline to our rich global travel marketplace, this new agreement will directly contribute to expanding the airline’s presence," said Rakesh Narayanan, Sabre’s regional general manager, travel solutions airline sales, for South Asia and Pacific.
