First phase of Fiji’s recovery campaign is encouraging

THE first phase of the marketing campaign in Australia and New Zealand was encouraging, says the Fiji Visitors Bureau, CEO Viliame (Bill) Gavoka, who returned from the New Zealand campaign, saying there were huge televised and print campaigns, which have shown encouraging results.

Mr Gavoka said this was reflective in the views the partners in New Zealand such as airlines and wholesalers, who said the number of bookings to Fiji have greatly improved.

He said the bureau was pleased the campaign in Australian was launched on 14 of this month and expect the same result of that in New Zealand.

Bill said phase two would start early February in terms of promotional driven by televised and print media, adding that the bureau believe that once the second phase of the recovery campaign will be completed, big seasons such as June will have normal peak season.

Tourism Action Group chairman Damend Goundar said the reports have shown improvements in booking numbers with Outrigger’s GM Darren Shaw saying this month’s booking has improved since last month.

Darren said TAG was doing a good thing and it’s showed united approaches by those involved in TAG and the industry was moving in the right direction.

TAG was reactivated a week after the political upheaval, to recover from the significant decline in visitor arrivals.
