First post-pandemic cruise departs US port
The first cruise ship to depart a US port on commercial service in 15 months has set sail. Celebrity Edge left Port Everglades with a reduced passenger capacity. Celebrity Cruises said at least 95% of passengers on the Celebrity Edge are vaccinated against Covid-19 under health requirements from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Due to Florida law Celebrity Cruises is simply asking rather than demanding guests present proof of vaccination, leading to a two-tier system aboard the ship.
Those who don’t voluntarily show proof will be treated as unvaccinated and subject to more stringent protocols. They will be seated in designated areas for meals and shows and they must wear masks.
