Fishy story
Flying fish? Here’s a whopper.
Alaska Airlines painted a Chinook salmon across almost the full length of a Boeing 737-400 passenger jet.
Airline officials say it’s a promotion to celebrate wild Alaska seafood and portray the airline’s role in hauling millions of pounds of fresh fish out of the state.
“There’s no question, at least in my mind, that this is the finest airline art ever conceived,” said Bill MacKay, senior vice president of Alaska Airlines.
The half a million dollars to paint the jet came from a local nonprofit agency, the Alaska Fisheries Marketing Board.
