Flight attendant busted for gold smuggling
An Air India Express crew member was arrested for alleged gold smuggling.
The crew member was apprehended by Customs officers after a tip-off.
Gold bars were found hidden on him on arrival at Cochin International Airport
The male flight attendant was part of the crew of the Bahrain- – Cochin flight.
According to local media more than 1.4 kg of gold was smuggled.
Air India Express said he has been suspended with immediate effect.
“A member of the crew has been taken into custody following an incident involving smuggling,” it said.
“Air India Express has zero tolerance for such behavior.”
Gold smuggling is a major issue into India from the Gulf.
Dozens of flight crew working inbound flights from the Gulf region have been caught and convicted of gold smuggling.

1.4kgs ? Sounds like a very small amount. How much is allowed ? Why couldn't they simply wear it as jewellry ?
