Flights halted as Philippines hit by typhoon
Flights to the Philippines capital Manila have been suspended for at least 12 hours until 3pm GMT after the central part of the country was hit by a typhoon.
Typhoon Kammuri made landfall in the southern end of Luzon island, from where at least 200,000 residents have been evacuated from coastal and mountainous areas due to fears of flooding, storm surges and landslide.
Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport (above) suspended operations at 3am GMT.
Some events at the Southeast Asian Games, which opened on Saturday, have been cancelled or re-scheduled.
Typhoon Kammuri has sustained winds of up to 155km and hour, (96mph), with gusts of up to 235km/h.
Storm surges of up to three metres (nearly 10ft) are expected, the weather service said.
