Fog continues to disrupt flights
Thick fog is still affecting flights to and from the UK and across Europe on New Year’s as air traffic controllers restrict arrivals and departures amid safety concerns.
London Heathrow, Gatwick, and London City and other major airports have suffered delays and cancellations in the last few days and continue to warn of flight disruption.
They are advising passengers to check the status of their flights with their airlines.
Easyjet said following yesterday’s disruption to its flying programme, delays would continue over the New Year period.
"The fog and low visibility is set to continue throughout the south of the UK, North and Central Europe this morning and into this afternoon," it said on the morning of December 31.
"This is likely to cause delays to flights across our network. We are working to minimise the disruption to our customers where possible.
"We understand that many of our customers are travelling specifically for the New Year and are sorry for the inconvenience caused."
The Met Office has issued a yellow fog warning for much of southern England, warning of poor visibility.
