Foreign Office issues weather warnings for US southern states
The Foreign Office has warned travellers that the effects of Tropical Storm Andrea, including high winds and heavy rain, will be felt in Georgia, and North and South Carolina from today.
The storm, which was posing a threat to tourists in Florida, see previous story, weakened as it made landfall but brought torrential rain.
An update on the FCO website said flash flooding and sporadic tornadoes are possible and advised tourists to monitor weather reports on radio and television and follow the advice of local authorities.
The hurricane season normally runs from June to November and can affect US coastal regions.
