Forward bookings to Greece up 23%
Greece is reporting a 23% rise in forward bookings for next summer.
It says the latest 2017 booking figures, up to September, show packages are selling particularly well, up 28% year-on-year, while self-catering bookings are up by 19%.
Data released at this week’s World Travel Market in London show a year-on-year 7.7% jump in arrivals from the UK to 1.9 million between January and August, and an even higher increase of 14% for the month of August.
Christina Kalogera, director of the Greek National Tourism Organisation UK & Ireland Office, said: "2016 has seen the third consecutive year of growth in tourism to Greece from the UK. Financial and political stability have contributed to this growth, but continuing investment in the tourism product has resulted in a dynamic choice for discerning visitors."
