Free – no fee GDS for agents announced – opportunity to try it out

Travel Distribution Systems Pty Ltd (TDS), a Melbourne based IT company, has developed a revolutionary new GDS system called ARENA, that will lower the cost of distribution for suppliers by consolidating all reservation services, in addition to providing travel agents with a no fee competitive edge to counter the many internet booking facilities that now encourage direct bookings.

TDS CEO, Norm Collins, who is well recognised as a specialist in travel automation, told The Mole this morning that ARENA, which has been designed specifically for the industry to use and was not for public use, will revolutionise bookings and profitability for agents by charging no GDS fees, while still allowing agents to collect commissions.

He added, “ARENA provides industry members with a powerful on-line facility for distributing all reservation types between suppliers and their travel retailers, also empowering travel suppliers and agents within a global distribution network and reducing their operational costs”.

He added, “The system will be free for travel agents with suppliers paying nominal charges for a comprehensive distributed reservation facility”.

Mr Collins said, “TDS has employed the very latest technology in developing ARENA to ensure the most efficient and cost effective system is delivered to industry members, who will experience enhanced booking facilities and the opportunity to increase service levels”.

Mr Collins also confirmed that ARENA is integrating with leading GDS Sabre to provide airline reservations, but that ARENA will manage its own accommodation, tours, car rental and all other travel reservations.

He also confirmed that some very positive and powerful discussion have taken place with industry leading organisations, who are extremely impressed with ARENA’s capabilities and technology stability and platform.

TDS is inviting members of the Travel and Tourism Industry to view a pre-release of ARENA in the Melbourne CBD on the 18th and 20th July, 2006 between 2:00pm and 5:00pm on both days. The dates for Sydney and other locations will be released shortly.
