French strikes could affect travel today
Strikes by French public sector workers could impact on travel today warns the Foreign Office.
The industrial action, which was due to start yesterday from 20.00 local time, will last until 08.00 local time on Wednesday.
The Foreign Office advises travellers to France to check with airlines and tour operators before they leave.
Easyjet warned that the strike "may cause disruption to our services" although it did not expect major problems.
"While details still remain unclear, the risk of disruption to Easyjet services is expected to be relatively low," said the airline in a statement.
"There also remains some risk of delay to our services that over-fly French airspace during September 10."
Some regional trains may be affected but most TGV services will run as normal and Eurostar trains are not expected to be hit.
Eurostar said in a statement: "Eurostar services are not affected and are expected to run as normal.
"Eurostar customers making a connecting journey and who are impacted by the industrial action have the option of exchanging their tickets for an alternative date."
