French ‘Survivor’ cancelled after contestant dies in Cambodia
A 25-year-old contestant on the French version of hit reality show Survivor has died during filming in Cambodia.
Production of the 2013 season of the show, called Koh-Lanta, has been cancelled and contestants have been flown back to France.
According to reports, the male contestant died on day one of filming following a tug-of-war segment.
He complained of cramps in his arms during the segment and was attended by a medic on the scene.
He was then flown to a nearby hospital but suffered a series of cardiac arrests during the transfer.
The show asks participants to complete physical challenges, often to win food. Contestants are gradually voted off the show as the weeks progress.
The production company and TV company said they are "devastated and join in the profound sadness" of the man’s family.
