Fuel price-pinched American cuts 15 daily flights
American Airlines blamed high fuel prices for its cutting 15 daily roundtrip flights at two major hubs.
American is suspending flights on 14 routes from Dallas/Fort Worth and Chicago to various destinations including Denver, Houston, and others.
American is also halting non-stop service from Chicago to Nagoya, Japan.
The cuts will start 29 October.
Jet fuel cost $78.69 per barrel just prior to Hurricane Katrina, said the Air Transport Association. But there’s been a 38% price increase in the past several weeks.
