Galileo technology wins United contract
Galileo has signed a deal with United Airlines to provide it with distribution technology, including a web-based booking system that was created with the help of Datalex. In addition to the internet booking engine for United.com, the airline has signed a ten-year contract with Galileo which will see the airline receiving reservations system technology, hosting services, and network management. United will also use packaging technology supplied by Cendant affiliate, NEAT, for its UnitedEscapes online service that allows consumers to package United travel with car hire and hotel bookings. In a statement, Datalex said: “The carrier is expected to reduce costs while enhancing distribution efficiency inventory control yield management and customer service.” United is a member of Galileo’s Preferred Fares Select program, in which fees are reduced in return for access to all fares including web fares.
