Garuda Indonesia-Etihad edge closer
Garuda Indonesia has struck a codeshare agreement with Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways that will increase Garuda’s network from 19 international destinations to more than 80 cities across 50 countries.
James Hogan, Etihad Airways CEO, said the agreement would position both airlines to benefit "from the strong demand for travel between Indonesia and the Middle East and Europe that we have seen in recent years".
As a result of the new cooperation, Garuda Indonesia will switch its stopover on the Jakarta-Amsterdam route from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, effective December 2, 2012.
The codeshare agreement kicks in from October 28.
