Garuda rolls at VR inflight entertainment
Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has launched new inflight VR entertainment aimed at luring more premium passengers.
Business fliers will get access to VR content and movies on selected domestic and international flights.
Garuda teamed up with US-based IFE provider Skylights which features the Allosky virtual reality headset.
It is part of Garuda’s ‘New Flight Experience’ upgrades which cover wide-ranging in-flight enhancements.
"Through this VR system, passengers will be able to watch various box-office movies on an immersive wide-angle, 180-360 degree screen," said Garuda president director Ari Askhara.
"Based on the positive responses we’ve been getting from our customers, we will extend the trial period for our new VR system to several domestic and international flights."
The VR content has been added to the busy Jakarta-Singapore and Tokyo Haneda routes and was also trialled on Jakarta-Manado and Jakarta-Bali services.
The airline will also add VR headsets in the Garuda Indonesia Executive Lounge at Jakarta Airport’s Terminal 3.
