Garuda steps up pace of expansion
Garuda Indonesia will expand its network routes and frequencies throughout Asia on the back of strong passenger movements from Australia and the region.
From January to November last year, Garuda Indonesia flew 15.4 million passengers, an increase of 36.4 percent compared to last year’s 11.32 million passengers, increasing the airline’s passenger yield – the return per seat – by 13 percent.
Bagus Y. Siregar, the airline’s senior general manager Australia/SWP said Garuda Indonesia is in high demand on the Australia-Jakarta routes with outbound passenger numbers increasing nearly 12 percent from 2010 to 150,587 passengers.
New destinations in 2012 will include services to Taipei and Haneda Tokyo, starting in the second quarter.
Garuda Indonesia recently increased its frequencies on a number of international routes including Sydney-Denpasar, Denpasar-Seoul, Melbourne-Jakarta and Melbourne-Denpasar.
