Gatwick says sorry over luggage delays
Gatwick has said baggage operations have now returned to normal following chaos over the weekend when hundreds of people were left waiting for luggage.
Passengers arriving into Gatwick South overnight on Saturday faced long delays picking up their bags, with many told to go home without it.
Officials told passengers from British Airways flights who had waited more than an hour for their bags, and those on Monarch, Thomas Cook or Thomson flights who had been waiting 90 minutes or more, that their luggage would be forwarded to their home address.
The airport blamed the disruption on Saturday on "resourcing issues" involving baggage handler Swissport.
The airport apologised and said operations were back to normal by Sunday afternoon.
