A German tourist was rushed to hospital with serious leg wounds after being attacked by a shark in Thailand.
57-year-old Elke Maier was named as the victim of the shark attack.
It happened as she was swimming in front of her hotel in Phang Nga.
She was helped out of the water and taken to a local hospital. She was later transported to another medical facility in Phuket.
Maier suffered a large 12-inch wound.
She is still in hospital recovering after surgery.
It is thought to have been an attack by a bull shark measuring about five-feet.
Local tourism chiefs including the Phang Nga Tourism Business Association have issued warnings to beach goers, water sports operators and dive centres to exercise extra caution on the beach and in the water.
Local authorities have posted red flags on the beach to warn tourists.
