Friday, 13 Jun, 2006 0

As a valued Shamrock agent you will know that the island of Ireland enjoyed a record breaking year in 2005 with 14% growth on 2004?  Amazing news eh and something really worth celebrating… …which is something the Irish do really well!

The start of this celebration is that Tourism Ireland together with TravelMole will bring you heaps of information and ideas from now to the end of the year on the myriad of exciting things for you and your clients to do in Ireland, we will also bring you information and tips on how to sell more Ireland by working with Tourism Ireland and Ireland operator partners.

The common objective is to, really satisfy clients’ holiday needs and desires, give your clients amazing Ireland holiday opportunities and ideas and of course, make more money by selling Ireland.

So, how can you be part of this celebration and enjoy some of this exponential growth?  How can you get some of that Ireland business and send your clients to Ireland to enjoy some of that amazing Irish “craic”?

As a fellow Celt – a Welshman – I knew innately what the word “craic” meant, but when I looked it up on the web, it told me that “craic is the Irish word for fun/enjoyment that has been brought into the English language and is used when mixed with alcohol and/or music – in Irish, ‘Bhi craic agus ceol againn’, in English “We had fun and music”, but it also said, “Fun doesn’t really cut it though, general banter, good times had by all, also, a person who is good fun/great company”.

Now, for any one who has been to Ireland or even has had a night of fun with the Irish will know exactly what “craic” means

As an established Shamrock Agent you can follow the excellent Shamrock training programme and in fact you may have already started as Module One and Module 2 are available and Module 3 is coming out shortly.

You will also receive regular correspondence outlining new and relevant information which will help you sell Ireland and as a Shamrock Agent, you will be given preferential invitee status for familiarisation visits, promotional events and you can also obtain display material and/or videos for local promotions.

So, what will you find out about Ireland over the coming months?

You will hear about great Tourism Ireland promotions, competitions, discover Irish festivals, Ireland’s dramatically different regions, step into Irish history and culture… you will discover your very own Ireland!  You will also hear about Tourism Ireland’s exciting Roadshow Series through Australia and New Zealand in the latter part of the year and The Shamrock Agents Familiarisation Programme – as a Shamrock Agent, you will receive preferential, priority invitations.

As the Manager for Tourism Ireland in Australia and New Zealand, Monica Nerney told TravelMole, “we have identified a “well of ignorance” when it comes to Ireland”.  “Our challenge is firstly to get Australians and New Zealanders to travel to Ireland and also inform people what amazing things there are to do while they are there”.  “For example, the oldest burial tomb is in Ireland, 500 years older than the pyramids in Egypt, that we have the cheapest car hire in Europe, the friendliest people in the world and that Ireland is the best place to share the ‘craic’.”

Monica added, “We also believe that Shamrock Agents in Australia and New Zealand hold the key to the door to Ireland and the opportunity to drive really valuable additional business”.

So, get ‘craicing’ and watch out for the exciting news and information on Ireland brought to you by TravelMole over the coming months, including the first one next week exclusive to Shamrock Agents  which will include the chance to win free tickets to the Good Food and Wine Show from 23 to 25 June in Sydney!
