Gold Medal gives clarification on Virgin’s new Ecomomy fares
Gold Medal has pledged to ‘keep life simple’ for agents by basing all its packages that include Virgin Atlantic flights on the airline’s new Economy Classic fares, ignoring its two new economy fare categories.
Virgin Atlantic has this spring introduced three levels of economy fares – Economy Light, Economy Classic and Economy Delight.
Gold Medal said it has decided to stick with just one category for its packages so retailers know what’s included.
Economy Classic includes features that clients traditionally expect, such as checked luggage allowance, seat selection and on-board meals.
Lisa McAuley, managing director tour operations B2B at Gold Medal and Travel 2, said:~"Everyone at Gold Medal knows how important it is for agents to be able to sell with confidence, so we have moved quickly to be the first operator to provide clarity on this issue.
"Virgin Atlantic is a valued partner of ours and many clients love flying with the airline. Using the Economy Classic rates in our advertised packages will mean agents can quote a fixed price, so they don’t have to then add on a load of extras. This will keep things simple for agents and avoid any awkward conversations about additional fees."
If customers want to opt for Virgin Atlantic’s Economy Light or Economy Delight fares on any Gold Medal package, agents can contact the Gold Medal reservations team on 0800 014 7777.
