Good airline news: accidents down
The number of civil aviation accidents in the US fell by 8% last year.
The National Transportation Safety Board reported that civil aviation accidents declined from 1,864 in 2003 by 1,715 last year.
There were also 9% fewer deaths last year.
Most of the fatalities came from accidents involving private planes and on-demand air taxis.
Greg Martin, a federal Aviation Admission spokesman, said the last three years have been the safest in aviation history.
