Green certification joins communications and information portal
Green Key and the European Network for Sustainable Tourism Development (ECOTRANS) have formalised an agreement to use DestiNet Services.
The new agreement delivers visibility for over 2,000 Green Key awarded sites through Destinet’s ‘Atlas for Excellence’
ECOTRANS manages DestiNet, the leading independent information portal on sustainable and responsible tourism worldwide, which is registered as an "UN Partnership for Sustainable Development" to provide more transparency in the "jungle" of more than 100 ecolabels for hotels, destinations and tour operators.
The agreement includes dissemination of information about the Green Key programme and the more than 2000 awarded Green Key sites through the "DestiNet Market Place" website and atlas.
DestiNet services will also include Green Key in sustainable tourism publications, in mailings to tour operators and travel agencies, destinations and networks, green tourism information and marketing services (e.g. GreenHopping, BookDifferent and TravelMotion).
Finn Bolding Thomsen, International Green Key Director, says: "It is a significant step for the Green Key programme to have information about Green Key on the independent DestiNet platform which facilitates the market access of eco-certified businesses to tourists, tour operators and travel agencies in Germany, Europe and indeed worldwide. We are delighted".
Herbert Hamele from ECOTRANS adds: "We are pleased to be able to inform regularly about Green Key, as it is the world’s largest eco-label for accommodation".
