Hainan Airlines to fly nonstop to Vancouver from Shenzhen
Hainan Airlines will now fly nonstop to Vancouver from Shenzhen.
The airline launched the route last year but is removing the existing Tianjin connection.
The revised Shenzhen-Vancouver noinstop routing starts on January 28.
The service will continue with two flights a week, and use Dreamliner 787-9 planes, the airline said.
Shenzhen has become an international hub for the airline, which serves routes to Australasia and Europe including Brussels, Madrid, and Paris.
The airline serves more than a dozen North American routes.
So far there has been no significant dip in air traffic numbers as tension between Canada and China remains high.
That started with the detention of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou, on an extradition warrant to the US, while three Canadians are locked up in China.
One was recently sentenced to death after being convicted of drug trafficking.
