Hawaiian Airlines ditches staff vaccine requirement
Hawaiian Airlines is finally lifting its Covid-19 vaccination mandate for all employees
It is the last airline to formally remove the requirement in the US.
The mandate is scrapped from October 1.
Staffers who were able secure leave of absence rather than getting the jab will be welcomed back.
Other Hawaiian workers who terminated their employment can apply to return back to the company, the airline has said.
Over 95% of employees had been vaccinated by early 2022.
It currently has a workforce of about 7,000.
“While we are removing the requirement, vaccinations are highly effective at preventing severe illness, and we encourage all employees to stay up to date,” Hawaiian CEO Peter Ingram said.
