Heathrow Express promises service despite strikes
Heathrow Express has vowed to run “as full a service as possible” to and from the airport despite planned industrial action for three days in October.
As reported, the rail union Aslef voted for three one-day strikes on 3, 10 and 12 October, as a protest against the type of recognition offered to the union. A spokesman for Heathrow Express, assured News From Abroad that the company would offer “as full a service as possible” throughout the strike action, and that customers who wanted to travel to the airport by rail on the strike days “can expect a service”.
The company’s managing director Brian Raven added: “We will pursue further discussions with ASLEF to resolve this situation and in the meanwhile we are working on a range of contingency plans that will maintain the safe and secure operation of Heathrow Express rail services for our customers.”
